Don Lilljedahl

 Lead Vocals / Guitar

Don Lilljedahl's powerful lead vocal is featured on the majority of the band's songs and is accompanied by his own strong rhythm guitar backing.  Don leads the band through a variety of moods and tempos, tying each song to the next with witty patter and warm, native-Texan humor.  His friendly, engaging style is the reason that people come back night after night to see and hear The WST Bluegrass Band.

Gary Ranous

 Lead Vocals / Bass

Although a native of New York, Gary Ranous is equally comfortable singing an Irish tenor solo like "Danny Boy," Civil War ballads like "Lorena" and "Two Little Boys," melodic novelty songs like "Grandfather's Clock," or the southern tune "Bluegrass Melody."  Gary's classical choral and barbershop experience combine with his bass playing to provide for WST perhaps the two most important ensemble parts: The rhythmic foundation and that all important high (and I mean high) tenor.

Charlene Crump

Vocals / Fiddle / Mandolin

Charlene Crump is a native of Texas.  She began her music training at age 6 on the piano.  Later she became interested in fiddle and she bought her own and began to play in a band with her uncle.  Her great grandfather, grandfather, and father were Texas fiddle players.  Charlene is the glue that holds the band together.  She kicks off most of the tunes with just the right tempos, directs the instrumental breaks, and puts down her mandolin and picks up her fiddle to join Mary in rarely heard Texas twin harmony fiddle duets.

Thom McNeil

Vocals / Banjo / Harmonica

Thom McNeil began playing the 5-string banjo at age 18.  He formed the Brywoods, "Jan Village Singers," and toured the southern United States as a guitar player with Rod, Don, and Company.  He has toured Southern California, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, and Florida.  He plays and also has taught classical guitar.

Mary Hattersley

Vocals / Fiddle

Mary Hattersley is considered to be one of the finest fiddlers in Texas.  Combining an almost angelic persona with an aggressive fiddle style, she's just fun to watch.  her father, a symphony conductor, started her on the violin at age 10.  A New Mexico native, she migrated to Austin after national fame in the band Greezy Wheels.  Mary's intricate, highly professional style of fiddle playing has won for her national recognition among both fellow musicians and fans.  She's an awesome solo violinist as well as a knowledgeable and caring teacher.
